2006 :
Star EFX
In the early summer of 2006, I auditioned and was successful in being selected as one of the main cast in a Sunday night variety show, housed in London's west end. 8 weekends of rehearsals followed, to routine up scenes from Miss Saigon, Lion King, My Fair lady as well as Dance routines and Solo vocal performances covering classic songs by the likes of Tina Turner, Whitney Houston and Frank Sinatra. Star EFX mixes up the Main Cast performances with external dance groups & troupes to put on a Variety Show covering people from the age of 6 through 80. The Variety Show is performed in Her Majesty's Theatre, Haymarket, London, where the long running show "Phantom of the Opera" is housed. The sound system used by the cast of Phantom is used for the variety show, and although stage scenery and props aren't really used, lighting is enhanced to make up for this, which works well to cover all of the different scenes that the Show includes. The directors, choreographers and vocal coaches are stern but excellent, and make the whole experience professional but lots of fun too! Being thrown all together with a group of talented performers over 8 strenuous weekends is tough but you make friends very quickly and go through an awesome experience, which brings you very close to your co-performers. The show was very emotionally and we were all sad when it was over, but happy to have had the opportunity, and met such great people doing so. It's not just the performers and the various dance troupes that make it possible, but Star EFX also get a team of excellent Stage Hands for back stage, sound & lighting.
